Support Needed for Mission

Plans for Gateway's Mission to Kenya are rapidly moving forward.  As with may things it seems to be a long ways off, but July will be here before we know it.

We ask for your prayers that we will both be a blessing for our Kenyan missionaries and that each of us and our Church will be blessed for this effort. The team needs your financial support should you have the resources and feel led to support us. Your gifts can be offered with checks noting 'Kenya 2010 Mission Trip' on the memo line payable to:

Gateway Presbyterian Church
1111 Dry Hollow Road
The Dalles, OR 97058-3125

Thank you for your support!

Gateway Presbyterian Church Plans Mission to Keyna

Gateway Presbyterian Church of The Dalles, Oregon is planning a mission trip to Kenya in the Summer of 2010. The team of eight will spend three weeks working to connect with some of our funded missionaries in Kenya.

The team is pictured below:

A portion of the time will be spent in Nairobi with Sam and Lynn Ownes who minister to government officials in the capital. The group will also travel to Kitui which is approximately 160 km east of Nairobi (see map below). They will work with Grace Ministry Outreach to help in a variety of ways in this region.

The trip is the first outreach to our long term missionaries that are located in Africa. The goals of the trip include the following:

Visit to Owens
1. Encourage them by seeing their circumstances and ministry.
2. Accompany Sam and Lynn to whatever ministry venues are appropriate
3. Pray with them for their various ministries
4. Bring back greetings and a report to Gateway

For the people in Kitui:
1. Encourage their noble efforts in the midst of desperate circumstances.
2. Assist in their ministry, giving credence to it in the eyes of their peers.
3. Pray with them for their various ministries and needs.

For Gateway:
1. Educate and promote 21st Century style missions. *
2. Stimulate a renewed sense of participation in the global church
3. Encourage individuals in their Christian walk.
4. Explore the possibilities of continuing ministry partnership with Grace Ministry Outreach and report these to the Missions Commission.
